Revival in Ninevah

In “Revival in Nineveh,” we look back to one of the greatest revivals ever recorded in the Old Testament — when an entire city turned from sin and cried out to God. Using the story of Jonah, this message reveals how God brings revival through God-appointed prayer, a God-appointed preacher, God-appointed preaching, a God-appointed place, a God-appointed time, and His God-appointed power.

From the sailors’ desperate prayers in Jonah 1:8 and 1:14 to Jonah’s own repentance in the belly of the fish, we see that revival always begins when God’s people get serious about prayer and obedience. Jonah’s bold message to Nineveh — “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown” — sparked a citywide awakening as hearts were humbled before the Lord.

This sermon challenges us to recognize that revival doesn’t start in a meeting or a moment; it starts in the heart. Could it be that God is waiting on us — right here, right now — to turn to Him so He can send revival again? When we pray earnestly, preach truth boldly, and seek God sincerely, He can still move in power today. Just as God moved in Nineveh, He can move again — if we’ll begin with prayer and surrender in our own circle.
